General Rules to Follow When Playing these Basic Poker Hands

  • Only raise and reraise with premium poker hands: AA – QQ, AK, and AQs from any position.
  • A standard raise is 4 times the big blind. For example, if the big blind is $0.50, raise $2.  If there are other players limping in before you, make the raise 4-6 times the big blind.
  • Limp into the action with all other basic poker starting hands.
  • Be wary of strong, tight players.  Be ready to call weak, loose players.
