Minimum & Maximum Buy-ins
Buy-ins are the minimum or maximum amount of money required or allowed to be brought into a game before a player can sit down at the poker table. 

Limit poker games will vary in the minimum amount that is needed to play and have no maximums. 

Most no limit and pot limit poker games will have a minimum and maximum buy-in amount.

Tournaments for all poker games will have a set buy-in for all players with all players receiving an equal number of chips.

Table Stakes
Table Stakes are rules set forth to control the fairness of poker hands.  They state that no player may add or remove poker chips from his stack during the play of a hand nor can he hide the number of poker chips are in his possession and, if asked, must disclose this total.  Many poker games also do not allow players to cash out any of their poker chips until they relinquish their seat and leave the game.
